Local grand jury issues indictments for endangerment, assault crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for wanton endangerment, rape and assault-related crimes on Friday. 

Thirty-five-year-old Nicholas Hildebrand of Dawson Springs was indicted on multiple charges after he reportedly abandoned three children who were in his care in early February. Hildebrand was indicted on three counts of abandonment of a minor and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Twenty-eight-year-old Garrett Weaver of Oak Grove faces multiple charges after he reportedly assaulted a victim and created a substantial risk of death or serious injury to another in February. Weaver was indicted for first-degree strangulation, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, intimidating a participant in a legal process, fourth-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief. 

Thirty-seven-year-old Maria Berry of Oak Grove was indicted on strangulation and abandonment charges after she reportedly abused a minor and intentionally left them with a stranger. Berry was indicted for first-degree strangulation, abandonment of a minor, intimidating a participant in the legal process and fourth-degree criminal abuse.

Forty-two-year-old Antonio Dailey of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree rape after he reportedly used force to have sexual intercourse with a minor in December 2024. 

Twenty-three-year-old Elisheva Spivak of Louisville was indicted for rape and endangerment charges after she reportedly used force to have sexual intercourse with a victim and created a substantial risk of injury for two other victims.  Spivak was indicted for first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, two counts of second-degree wanton endangerment, sexual misconduct, leaving the scene of an accident and alcohol intoxication in a public place. 

Thirty-year-old Joshua Pedgio and 34-year-old Felicia Cumbee both of Hopkinsville were indicted on child abuse charges following a welfare check on February 13. According to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, two children under the age of 12 were malnourished, filthy, sick and were living in the house which had no heat or running water. 

The pair was indicted on two counts of first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12 years old, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Forty-one-year-old Rita Justice of Clarksville was indicted for vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol following a fatal Oak Grove wreck on January 24. According to a report, Justice struck 39-year-old Samuel Harlon Whitworth with her vehicle resulting in his death.
