Hoppers in need of host families this summer

First pitch for the Hoptown Hoppers summer baseball team is less than two months away.

In preparation, Hoppers’ Team President Charlie Henderson was a guest on WHOP’s Early Bird Show on Thursday and said he is needing more host families as the season draws near.

The majority of players on the team, which plays games in June and July, come from several hours away from Hopkinsville. The players and parents want to know ahead of time where and with whom they will be staying while in Hopkinsville this summer.

Henderson said often times the host families and players create a bond that lasts long after the season ends.

During the season, the players are playing games or practicing so host families are mainly needed for the basic essentials for two months.

Host families receive season passes for the family.

Anyone wanting to become a host family for a Hopper is asked to call either Jamie Folz at 270-889-7909, General Manager Danny Roberts at 270-839-8699, or Henderson at 270-348-6322.

Henderson said he, Folz, or Roberts would be happy to answer any questions a person might have about hosting a Hopper.

The Hoppers will begin arriving in Hopkinsville in late May. The opening game is scheduled for May 31 at Henderson. The first home game is set for June 2 against Madisonville.

All home games are being played this summer at Christian County High School’s Colonel Field.
