A Greenville man was killed in a head-on collision in Muhlenberg County early Friday morning.
According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, the two-vehicle crash happened at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Highway 181, just a mile south of the Western Kentucky Parkway. Preliminary investigation determined that 22-year-old Tyler Caple of Cromwell was operating a vehicle southbound when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel.
His vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Nathan Bard of Greenville head-on. Bard was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner.
Caple was transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg County Hospital for injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening.
