Trial for Alexander and Dakota Heck was rescheduled to November 3 in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday.
The pair is charged in connection to the murder of an infant in their home in March 2022. Alexander Heck is charged with murder and Dakota Heck is charged with complicity to murder. The victim was the child of a mother who was reportedly staying at the pair’s home at the time.
Alexander Heck is represented by attorney Michael Thompson and Dakota Heck is represented by attorney Stephanie Mize. The original trial date was set for May 12, but they are still waiting on a forensics report to be completed.
Circuit Judge Andrew Self says trial will start at 9:30 a.m. on November 3 and will continue on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of that week.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Gilbert says he is hesitant to move the trial date, because the victim’s family wants the case to go to trial, but he also wants all parties involved to be prepared.
In order to accommodate Thompson and Mize, Circuit Judge Andrew Self agreed to move the trial start date to May 13.
If by then the witness reports are still not ready, they will discuss moving the trial date.
