In honor of National Medal of Honor Day taking place on Monday, the City of Clarksville partnered with the 101st Airborne Division to unveil a tribute wall at Governor’s Square Mall.
A piece of Governor’s Square Mall is now a place of respect in admiration with a tribute wall honoring 46 local Medal of Honor recipients from the 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault and the 5th Special Forces Group.
The celebration closed with a community reception where veterans, service members, and civilians exchanged stories and built connections. The wall at Governor’s Square Mall will stand going forward as more than a memorial—but as a bridge uniting a town with its military heritage and inspired a collective commitment to never forget the sacrifices made in defense of the nation.
Around 3,530 individuals have been awarded the Medal of Honor since the Civil War, and this memorial looks to honor them for their bravery, integrity and love for their country.
