Blazers take 4th, Lady Blazers finish 11th at Muhlenberg Invitational

University Heights Academy competed in the Muhlenberg County Invitational on Saturday.

The Blazers took fourth place as a team and the Lady Blazers were 11th among 19 teams.

UHA’s boys’ 800-meter relay team of Cole Glover, Tobias Duncan, Zach Davis, and Harlow Hampton took first place.

Individually, Griffin McCoy took second place in the 400-meter dash. He was also third place in the 200-meter dash and fourth place in the 100-meter dash.

Davis placed second in the 800-meter run and Logan Miller finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.

Lester was fourth in the high jump, fifth in the 200-meter dash, and sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Paducah Tilghman won the boys’ meet with 86 points, with Christian County finishing second (76) and Hopkinsville third (69).

“We felt very good about the day for the boys,” UHA coach Carter Hendricks said. “We were also missing a couple of guys. I think the boys’ team has a chance of being pretty darn special.”

For the Lady Blazers, the 200-meter relay team of Ajae Oatts, Palin Hampton, Emma Dill, and Alivia Acree was third.

Dill took third in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Oatts finished fourth in the 200-meter dash and eighth in the 100-meter dash.

“The girls’ team had four athletes so I thought they did really well given the size of our team,” Hendricks said. “We were missing half our team due to other activities. When we have a full girls’ roster, they are very good as well.”

Owensboro won the girls’ meet with 117 points, followed by Ballard Memorial (75), and Owensboro Catholic (72.5).
