Hopkinsville Police arrested 55-year-old Kimberly Covington of Pembroke after she was reportedly driving under the influence Monday night.
According to a report, law enforcement was notified concerning a reckless driver near Russellville Road. While patrolling, officers came across a car stopped at a green light at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and 9th Street that matched the description of the reckless driver.
Officers followed the car and reportedly observed it failing to stay in its lane which is when they initiated a traffic stop. Officers then made contact with Covington, the driver, and reportedly smelt a slight alcohol odor.
Covington reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and showed signs of impairment during a sobriety test. She was charged with disregarding a traffic control device, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a car and her fourth offense of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol which is a felony.
