HCA hands out awards at basketball banquet

Heritage Christian Academy handed out awards at its annual basketball banquet over the weekend.

For the Warriors, senior Jason Leek earned the Most Valuable Player Award. He finished the season as the leading scorer at 34.5 points in the state and also surpassed 2,000 points in his career.

The Offensive Award went to Jason Wheatcraft and the Defensive Award went to Samuel Thompson.

Other Warriors earning awards included Jacob Morgan (Most Improved), Cadyn Travis and Ethan Miles (Triston Folz Coaches’ Choice), and Cooper Kirkman (Warrior Award).

For the Lady Warriors, Kynlee Henderson took home the Most Valuable Player Award.

Other varsity award winners included Lexi Lyon (Hustle Award), Ava DeJager (Coaches Choice), Chloe Peck (Christian Character) and Riley Sutton (Most Improved).

For the cheerleaders, Ellie Groves took home the Most Valuable Player Award and Cherrilyn Gibson earned Coach’s Choice.

Others picking up awards included Mekena Dalke (Christian Character), Maddie Monroe (Hustle Award), Zaylei St. Martin (Megan Conklin Spirit of Cheer), and Payton Outland (Warrior Award).
