Local leaders visit Washington D.C. to advocate for Fort Campbell

To advocate for Fort Campbell soldiers and their families, leaders from Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties visited Washington D.C. for their annual Citizens for Fort Campbell trip last week.

According to a news release from the Christian County Military Affairs Committee, local leaders have been visiting Washington D.C. for over 30 years to meet with Kentucky senators and representatives and discuss matters affecting Fort Campbell.

Members of the committee, discussed issues concerning quality of life, safety and the modernization of Fort Campbell’s workplace environment.

This year’s trip included:

  • J.R. Knight, Hopkinsville Mayor
  • Isaiah Spencer, Oak Grove City Council Member
  • Travis Martin, Hopkinsville City Council Member
  • Brent Brookshire, Todd County Magistrate
  • Lana Bastin, Champion of Fort Campbell
  • Lori Harper, Champion of Fort Campbell
  • Jack Smith, Champion of Fort Campbell
  • Taylor Hayes, President and CEO of the Christian County Chamber of Commerce
  • Shannon Lane, Director of Military Affairs
