A 10-year-old was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville following a crash on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way Sunday afternoon.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, the two-vehicle crash happened when a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Leslie Fleetwood of Elkton attempted to get onto the on-ramp for I-169 when she realized it was the wrong ramp and quickly tried to merge back into the westbound lanes.
At the same moment, a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Tiffany Kauffman of Crofton was traveling in the westbound lanes and was struck when Fleetwood merged back in.
Two passengers in Kauffman’s vehicle, including Justin Brandon and 10-year-old Jasmine Kauffman, were transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, and Jasmine Kauffman was later flown to Vanderbilt for treatment.
A passenger in Fleetwood’s vehicle, Sabrina Fleetwood, was taken to Jennie Stuart.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
