If you can believe it, the 75th annual WHOP Rotary Radio Auction is next month, and Rotarians are deep in the weeds of preparing to host another successful fundraising event.
Auction Chair Landan Stallons and Rotarian Scott Cowan appeared on WHOP Thursday morning and says they are excited and rearing to go to bring this auction to the community—and it being the 75th auction represents a big milestone for both the club and the community.
This auction—with the theme “75 Years of Financing Our Future”—will bring back all the classics that people have come to love, from the live auction itself to the diner, and the diner will have some new culinary staples.
Stallons says he’s eager to try and beat last year’s total, but they’re going to need the community’s help. The auction is set for April 21 through April 26 at the War Memorial Building, and it will air live on WHOP 98.7 FM each night and Cowan says it’s sure to be a great time.
Money raised goes back into supporting the Rotary Scholars program, which allows local high school graduates to attend Hopkinsville Community College for two years tuition free, and Cowan says they’ll also hand out some community grants during the auction.
The Hour and Goat Clubs will also be going full force for this auction, and Rotarians will be out and about in the community soliciting donations as we head towards auction time.
