Hopkinsville FFA commemorates National FFA Week with ceremony

By: Ag. Reporter Mollie Goode

The Hopkinsville High School FFA chapter wrapped up a special week of agriculture instruction.

Committee chair Laney Chaudoin says the local chapter participated in National FFA Week trends, but with a flare. She says the week created many opportunities for their program to give back and show appreciation to other organizations in Christian County.

Chaudoin says that during the week, the chapter served food at the Salvation Army, participated in an agriculture-inspired scavenger hunt around the county, hosted a tractor day and prepared for future club events like the Greenhand Ceremony. The ceremony recognizes new members’ hard work and dedication to improving the chapter. She adds that the week was only possible because of the support from the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, Christian County Extension Office and H&R Agri-Power.

Chaudoin mentions their chapter focused on living out every part of the National FFA motto during the week with service opportunities. She says the members were especially excited to volunteer at the Salvation Army and be a part of something much bigger than their local FFA chapter.
