The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Wind Advisory for the entire region including all of western Kentucky through Wednesday evening.
That wind is being caused by a strong storm system making its way through the southern half of the country this week, and while the severe weather is staying to the south of us, it will still bring rain, some thunder and especially high wind to western Kentucky.
Lead Forecaster Keith Cooley with the National Weather Service in Paducah the wind is already starting to pick up, but it will really get to gusting during the mid-day and into the afternoon and lingering throughout Wednesday—and that will only pick up during any storms that roll through.
He says scattered power outages will certainly be possible, and where the soil is soft from recent rains could even knock over some trees.
Winds could gust up to 40 miles per hour, or higher during storms, with sustained winds of about 20 miles per hour possible, which could make driving for high-profile vehicles difficult. So travel with caution, and stay weather aware.
