Hoptown has 2 wrestlers qualify for state tournament

Hopkinsville High School had two wrestlers qualify for this week’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Tournament with their finishes Saturday at the Region 1 Tournament at Paducah Tilghman High School.

Jaylin Littleton led the way for the Tigers with a runner-up finish in the 165-pound division. Littleton, who has a 25-2 record this season, fell to Union County’s Jeremy Ray in the region championship match.

Juan Cannon took fourth place for the Tigers in the 120-pound division. He fell to Union County’s Jake Ramsey in the consolation final.

Other Hopkinsville wrestlers in the region tournament included Nicholas Herrera (126), Andrew Kraft (144), Henry Caudill (157), and Alden Marshall (285).

The Tigers finished 13th as a team with 37 points. Union County won the team championship with 339 points. Paducah Tilghman was second with 254.5 points.

The KHSAA State Tournament is scheduled to be held at Alltech Arena beginning Thursday in Lexington.
