Former Hopkinsville High School basketball coach Daryl Hallmark will be enshrined in the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches Ring of Honor.
Hallmark’s son, Daryl Hallmark Jr., told WHOP today that his father had been selected to go into the KABC Ring of Honor in 2025 and would be receiving the honor during this year’s KHSAA Boys’ State Basketball Tournament.
The elder Hallmark coached Hopkinsville High School’s boys’ basketball team from 1982-1992, amassing a 198-103 record at HHS.
His 1985 team won the KHSAA State Tournament with a 65-64 win over Clay County. During the run, the Tigers defeated future Kentucky Wildcats Mike Scott (Greenup County), John Pelphrey (Paintsville), and Richie Farmer (Clay County).
The 1986 Tigers were ranked in the top 20 nationally and defeated nationally ranked DeMatha High School. The next year, his 1987 team was ranked preseason No. 1 in the state before injuries to several key players limited their play and the Tigers lost to University Heights Academy in the first round of the District 8 Tournament.
Coach Hallmark was inducted into the inaugural Hopkinsville High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
