Transmission line failure puts the power out for thousands in Christian, Trigg counties

Crews with both Pennyrile Electric System and the Tennessee Valley Authority are working to restore power early Friday morning after a transmission line problem put thousands in the dark.

The outage is due to a broken conductor on the TVA transmission line and has been found, so now, crews are working to replace the broken piece and restore service to that line as soon as possible. Officials thanked the TVA and Pennyrile Electric members who were out working in single-digits conditions.

The power first went out around 6 a.m., plunging over 12,000 Pennyrile Electric members into the dark and cold. No estimates were given on how quickly the problem could be fixed.
