Kentucky State Police are reminding motorists to not just slow it down if you’re out on snow-covered roadways, but also to give those snow plows some extra room while they do their work.
This reminder comes after a two-vehicle collision between a semi-truck and a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet snow plow in Lyon County Tuesday evening. According to a news release, the crash happened just after 6:45 p.m. near the 36-mile-marker of I-24.
Investigation determined that a tractor-trailer driven by 40-year-old Dawit Tirago of Georgia was head eastbound on I-24 behind a snow plow that was plowing in that area. Due to the slick conditions caused by heavy snow and limited visibility, the semi crashed into the rear of the snow plow.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the collision.
Troopers are asking citizens to stay off the roads if they can, but if they must get out, to really reduce speeds and make sure to not crowd the plows.
