Flood Warning in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, heavy rain expected to linger

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Flood Warning, and stormy weather and heavy rain are expected to linger throughout the weekend. Meteorologist Derrick Snyder says they are concerned at the possibility of major flooding across the area, and urges people to be weather aware and safe if they’re traveling today.

Remember, turn around, don’t drown.

* Flash Flood Warning for…

Southern Christian County in south central Kentucky…

Todd County in south central Kentucky…

Southeastern Trigg County in western Kentucky…

* Until noon CST.

* At 602 AM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated

thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between

1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of

2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is

ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, Cadiz, Elkton, Fort Campbell, Land

Between The Lakes Area, Clarksville, Guthrie, Pembroke, Trenton,

Lafayette, Herndon, Allensville and Linton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.
