District 8 tournament basketball meeting set

The dates and times for the 2025 District 8 Basketball Tournaments will be set in a meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 20 at Hopkinsville High School.

Hopkinsville Athletics Director Jacob Ezell said on Wednesday that the girls’ tournament will be discussed at 9 a.m. followed by the boys’ meeting at 9:30 in the HHS library.

Only three teams will be playing in the girls’ tournament. Second seed Hopkinsville will play No. 3 Fort Campbell in the semifinal game. The winner advances to play Christian County in the championship.

University Heights Academy does not field a girls’ basketball team and Heritage Christian Academy has withdrawn from postseason play.

Meanwhile, the boys’ tournament will include all five teams although the seeding is not complete.

Fort Campbell will be the No. 5 seed and will take on the No. 4 seed. HCA plays UHA on Thursday night. If HCA wins, the Blazers would be the No. 4 seed. If HCA loses, the Warriors will be the No. 4 seed.

If the Blazers win, it also will force a three-way tie for first place with Hopkinsville and Christian County. That tie would be decided by the RPI. Currently, the Tigers have the highest RPI, followed by UHA and Christian County.
