The Christian County School Board approved the job description for the executive principal of the consolidated Christian County High School at Thursday’s meeting.
According to the job description, the executive principal will be responsible for providing instructional and administrative leadership, oversight to all academies and will create a culture of excellence that prepares students for college and careers.
The executive principal should hold a master’s degree in education leadership, administration or a related field; have an administrative certification in Kentucky; have a minimum of five years of teaching experience and three years of leadership experience and much more.
Director of Personnel Leslie Lancaster says the executive principal will play a vital role in shaping the identity of the consolidated Christian County High School.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says applicants will be interviewed by a six-person committee consisting of himself, Assistant Superintendents Jessica Addison and Kevin Crider and three community members. Then four representatives from both Hopkinsville and Christian County High Schools will provide feedback on the candidates.
Bentzel says it’s their goal to hire an executive principal by April in order to give them around a year to hire staff, develop branding, create master schedules and much more before construction for the consolidated high school is completed by around April 2026.
The board approved the position description, and Lancaster says they will start advertising it and accepting applicants.
