The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is inviting the community to enjoy a new audio exhibit, featuring the voices from local historical figures.
The “Voices of Hoptown” exhibit is an addition to the permanent exhibit that incorporates audio from interviews to enhance the understanding of local history by visitors. For Black History Month, the exhibit will feature 12 memories from local African American citizens who have shared their stories.
Some of the presenters on local history include Darryl Banks, Nannie Croney, Mamie Dillard, Wendell Lynch, Gwenda Motley, Levi Peterson, Jr., and Valeria Watkins were made possible through a partnership with Salt.Light.Love and grant funding from the Kentucky Oral History Commission.
“Voices of Hoptown” is open now and will remain so through the end of February.
Full oral history interviews are available as a podcast also named “Voices of Hoptown: In Their Own Words” and episodes are available on Spotify.
