Elementary students show academic skill in competition, bringing home awards

Several local elementary school academic teams met in competition in Trigg County this past weekend, and students showed off their skills.

Two districts competed—District 13 and District 14—which are made up of academic teams from local elementary schools. In District 13, Heritage Christian Academy, South Christian Elementary, Trigg County Intermediate and Pembroke Elementary schools faced off.

You can find a full list of the scores on the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition website, but overall, South Christian came in first place in their district, with Trigg County Intermediate taking second, third place won by Pembroke Elementary and Heritage Christian Academy got fourth place overall.

The District 14 competition was made up of teams from University Heights Academy, Millbrooke Elementary School and Indian Hills Elementary School. The overall final standings for that district were Millbrooke Elementary taking first place, UHA in second and Indian Hills claiming third place.

Aside from the quick recall portion of the competitions, students are also tested on their individual knowledge on the subjects of mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, arts and humanities, composition and future problem solving.

You can see how those individuals students placed here for District 13, and here for District 14.
