Christian County High School has its first ever qualifiers for the State Bowling Tournament.
Coach Mike Goode said Kane DeGuilio and Christian Lane finished second in the Unified Division of the Region 1 Tournament on Friday to earn a bid to the Feb. 10-12 State Bowling Tournament in Louisville.
Lane also became the first bowler from either Hopkinsville or Christian County to earn a place in the top 8 in singles play as he took eighth place Friday at the region tournament. Lane qualifies for the All-Regional team that will compete on Feb. 22. He averaged 183 for five games.
Other singles competitors for Christian County on Friday included Peyton Hilton (45th), Aiden Lewis (46), and Michael DeArmond (63).
The boys’ team competition began at 8 a.m. today. Each team has eight bowlers, four on each lane. They will bowl one compete game per bowler with the lowest score on each lane dropping off and will not be counted for the overall team score. The top six scores will be totaled together and counted as a qualifying total, which will then be seeded. They will bowl baker matches to see who keeps advancing. Teams have to win two out of three games in the bakers’ match to advance with the top two teams advancing to state competition.
Lewis, Hilton, Lane, DeArmond, Jordan Morton, DeGuillo, Paul Grace, and Jaxson Hall are representing the Colonels.
