A jury has found a Hopkinsville man guilty on sex crimes against a child under the age of 12 following trial on Thursday in Christian Circuit Court.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour in the trial against 65-year-old Ricky Thomas, finding him guilty of two counts of first-degree sodomy against a child under the age of 12 and two counts of sexual abuse against a child under the age of 12.
The case came about as the result of a three-month long investigation in 2023, where it was revealed at Thomas engaged in sexual acts with the victim on at least three occasions between February of 2020 and February 2021. He also was accused of exposing the victim to explicit websites and videos during the same timeframe.
Following the guilty verdicts, attorneys and Thomas agreed to a total sentence of 20 years in prison.
Final sentencing was set for April 9 in the courtroom of Judge John Atkins.
