The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public’s help in reducing strain on the power grid, especially on Wednesday, January 22 between the times of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Bitter cold temperatures are creating near record-high demands for electricity across the TVA’s service region, though they assure that they are not experiencing issues at this time and the power system remains stable.
Residents are being asked to set the thermostat lower than you might usually set it, postpone the use of appliances such as the clothes dryer and dishwasher in that peak demand time and also shut off lights and other non-essential appliances that aren’t in use.
