Area basketball players among state’s leaders

A pair of area high school basketball players are ranked among the state’s top five scorers, according to statistics reported by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association on Monday.

Heritage Christian Academy senior guard Jason Leek is No. 2 in scoring at 32.4 points per game. University Heights Academy junior guard Tylin George is No. 4 at 29.2 points per game. The two players will meet tonight at Warrior Gym in a Region 2 All “A” Basketball Tournament game at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Christian County High School sophomore Rahsean Stevenson is No. 19 in field goal percentage at 66.7 percent. Hopkinsville junior James Bradley Jr., is No. 34 at 64.3 percent.

George is No. 36 in free throw percentage at 83 percent and Hopkinsville’s DeAvery Ramey is No. 48 at 81 percent.

Hoptown’s Jonathan Hart is No. 31 in 3-pointers per game at 3.1. Leek is 39 at 2.9 per game.

The Tigers’ Layton Giltner is No. 28 in rebounding at 10.4 per game and Hopkinsville is No. 16 as a team in rebounding with 34.7 per game.

Among girls’ statistical leaders, Christian County is ninth as a team in rebounding at 37.2 per game. Hopkinsville is 50 at 32.8 per game.

Christian County senior Na’Vaeh Day is No. 22 in rebounding at 11.5 per game and Hopkinsville’s LeeLee Love is No. 49 at 9.6 rebounds.

The Lady Colonels’ junior guard Anaysia Bagwell is No. 49 in 3-point goals with 2.4 per game.
