Although the return from winter break was delayed due to icy weather, Christian County Public Schools Superintendent, Chris Bentzel spotlighted what they have planned for the new semester on Monday.
Appearing on the WHOP Early Bird Show, Bentzel says the school system is nearly fully staffed but are looking for more bus drivers and facility projects are coming along well.
On Tuesday, the school system’s Local Planning Committee will be hosting its first meeting of the year and Bentzel says they will be focused on reevaluating school facilities. An LPC is formed every four years to assess and receive community input concerning the school system’s district facilities plan.
LPC members include Tiffany Mumford Brame, David Wimpy and Mark McGee. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. and the public forum will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian County Board of Education.
On January 30 the Career Expo is coming back to the Bruce Convention Center. The expo is for high school freshman and gives them a chance to explore career opportunities in the region. Bentzel says the expo went well last year and looks forward to it growing.
For the expo, local businesses and organizations are invited to host hands-on activities that allow students to learn more about different career fields. As the inclement weather continues any possible school cancellations or delays will be posted to the Christian County Public Schools Facebook page.
