Pennyrile Electric continues work to get the lights back on after icy weather

Pennyrile Electric System is continuing their fight to get the lights back on, after power was knocked out to thousands of members by winter weather Sunday.

With the temperatures below freezing, the race is on for lineman across Christian and surrounding counties, and Brent Gilkey with Pennyrile Electric says he understands just how frustrating it can be when the power is out and the cold is creeping in, so he thanked everyone for their patience.  He says they have to do their best to make sure everyone stays safe.

Gilkey fully expects that they’ll make tremendous progress throughout the day.

Part of the issue is finding where exactly the problem is—Pennyrile Electric has many, many miles to cover and it can sometimes take a long while to identify where the issue is and then get to it to fix it.

He says they do what they can to keep the lines clear of limbs and trees that may fall, but there’s only so much they do on that front.  Also, if you have eyes on any downed trees or limbs that are on power lines, you can report that to Pennyrile Electric by giving them a call (270) 886-2555.
