Leek’s school record 51 points leads HCA past Crittenden County

Heritage Christian Academy senior guard Jason Leek continues to write his name in the school’s record books.

Leek scored a school-record 51 points Friday night as the Warriors defeated visiting Crittenden County 84-60 in a boys’ high school basketball game.

It was the second time this season that the Warriors (3-8) have beaten the Rockets.

Crittenden led early 4-2, but HCA went on a 11-0 run to take a 13-4 lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back.

Heritage led 26-15 after one quarter and pushed its lead to 50-28 at halftime.

The Warriors shot 54.2 percent from the field in the game and were never threatened in the second half. They also shot 50 percent from long range (11 for 22).

Leek made 21 of 26 shots including six of eight from 3-point distance to set the scoring mark. He also had 13 rebounds and six assists in the game.

Samuel Thompson also had a big game for the Warriors with 11 points and five rebounds.

The Warriors return to action Tuesday night in the first round of the All “A” Region 2 Tournament at home against University Heights Academy. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. Airtime for the game will be 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
