Sentencing for shooting suspect Zamarius Humphries was postponed in Christian Circuit Court on Thursday.
Humphries is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in relation to a 2021 shooting that occurred outside of the Princess Theater.
Humphries reportedly exchanged gunfire with Jaquavian Spencer and was shot and injured. During the gunfire another person reportedly attempted to shoot Spencer but injured Gteria Acree and murdered Aniyah Collins. Deovion Day was originally charged for injuring Acree and killing Collins but was found not guilty by a jury in December 2024.
Humphries’ defense attorney Cody Hooks told Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self that he believes Humphries is planning to withdraw from a guilty plea agreement after he saw Day receive a not guilty verdict.
Humphries says the deal he took was unfair and that there is not enough evidence to convict him.
Humphries will reappear in court on January 15 where he will either be sentenced or will motion to withdraw from his guilty plea.
