Discussions continue in East 18th murder case

Discussions continue in the murder case against Earl Guillemet, the man accused in the fatal shooting death of Delores Hernandez, as more information is gathered in the attempt to come a resolution.

Guillemet is represented by defense attorney Ramon McGee, who requested in more time in Christian Circuit Court Thursday morning for the Commonwealth to go over documentation concerning his treatment through the veteran’s administration. McGee feels that information could lead to a resolution in this case.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Maureen Leamy agreed with the request, so Judge John Atkins pushed proceedings to the next pretrial hearing, which is in June before trial.

Should the parties come to an agreement before that time, a new pretrial hearing will be arranged.

Guillemet is accused of fatally shooting Hernandez May 3 in the 300 block of East 18th Street. Witnesses and security camera footage from the area identified a silver Chevy truck as leaving the scene after the shooting and a Black male with gray facial hair was seen walking towards the victim’s residence just moments before the shots fired call.

Police would also eventually recover the gun Guillemet allegedly used to kill Hernandez and he was arrested on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
