Police arrest Hopkinsville man for assault, attempting to cause wreck

Hopkinsville Police arrested 50-year-old Reginald Johnson of Hopkinsville after he reportedly assaulted a victim while they were driving and attempted to cause an accident.

According to a report, the victim was driving a car and Johnson was in the passenger seat when he struck the victim in the face causing visible injuries. Johnson also reportedly jerked the steering wheel in an attempt to wreck the car.

Following the incident, Johnson allegedly fled before police arrived to the scene. Officers later made contact with Johnson and reported that he smelt like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

Johnson was charged with fourth-degree assault, alcohol intoxication in a public place and first-degree wanton endangerment.
