Trial date set in East 18th Street murder case as lawyers discuss possible resolution

Although a trial date was set in the murder case against Earl Guillemet in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon, a resolution before that is not out of the question.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Maureen Leamy says there are some remaining matters her investigator is looking into, including some documentation concerning treatment records and other facts related to the fatal shooting that happened on East 18th Street that resulted in the death of Delores Hernandez.

She says she will likely present an offer to defense attorney Ramon McGee—who represents Guillement—fairly soon. Judge Atkins felt it prudent to set a trial date in the meantime, which was then set to start on June 30, 2025.

Guillemet is accused of fatally shooting Hernandez May 3 in the 300 block of East 18th Street. Witnesses and security camera footage from the area identified a silver Chevy truck as leaving the scene after the shooting and a Black male with gray facial hair was seen walking towards the victim’s residence just moments before the shots fired call.

Police would also eventually recover the gun Guillemet allegedly used to kill Hernandez and he was arrested on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
