Some of the best high school basketball players in the country will be on display this weekend at Hopkinsville High School during the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic.
Hopkinsville High School Assistant Principal Jonathan King joined Christian County Public Schools Athletics Director Kerry Stovall on the WHOP Early Bird Show on Wednesday.
King said in addition to all four local high schools playing games in the event, three prep school squads are participating with some of the top players in the country taking the Tiger Gym floor.
Prolific Prep will take on Iowa United to tip off the Friday night action. King said that game will be fun to watch.
The event begins Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. The second session begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. and the Saturday session begins at 11:30 a.m. Girls teams from Heritage Christian Academy, Hopkinsville and Christian County will be playing in the event. Boys’ teams include Christian County, Hopkinsville, HCA, and University Heights Academy. Other girls’ teams include Caldwell County, Dawson Springs, and Graves County. Other boys’ teams in the event include Paducah Tilghman, Henderson County, Foundation Christian Academy, South Warren, Owensboro Catholic and Marshall County.
Stovall said he thinks it should be a competitive event with some good games throughout the weekend.
Hopkinsville High School also will be playing against Wilson Academy, one of the prep teams out of Georgia. Stovall said it will be good for the local players to face this kind of competition.
Tickets for tonight’s and Friday night’s sessions are $10. Saturday’s session is $12 and an all session pass is $20. They can be purchased at gofan.co. A cardreader will be available at the gate, however there will be no cash sales.
