The Hopkinsville Tigers had to rally from an early double-digit deficit to defeat Caldwell County 71-61 Friday night in a boys’ high school basketball game in Princeton.
Caldwell County scored the game’s first 12 points to rattle Hopkinsville.
But, soon Hoptown began cutting into the lead, trailing only 18-13 after one quarter.
The visiting Tigers had cut the lead to 33-29 at halftime and continued to come after Caldwell in the third quarter. Hopkinsville took its first lead of the game at 43-42 in the third quarter and led 51-49 entering the final period.
Hoptown took its largest lead of 11 points in the final quarter before finishing with the 10-point win.
Jonovan Leavell had 16 of his 22 points in the first half. James Bradley had 14 of his 20 in the second half and Jonathan Hart provided 13 of his 18 points in the final two periods. Hart also connected on four 3-pointers on the night.
Caldwell County (1-2) was led by Jayderius Wilson’s 27 points. He was the only Caldwell player in double figures.
Hopkinsville (2-1) is back in action Saturday at Muhlenberg County High School against Bardstown.
