Fort Campbell High School has a new principal—as the former assistant principal of that school steps into that leadership role.
Jamie Romero was appointed to that position recently, boasting of a career full of experience, including beginning his educational career in 2006 with Miami-Dade County Public Schools in Florida. His journey began at Kendale Elementary, where he taught grades 2 through 5. He later served as a math coach at Laura C. Saunders Elementary, where his efforts contributed to the school’s impressive turnaround from an F to a B rating on standardized tests. Following this, he was an interim assistant principal at South Dade Senior High School.
He joined the Department of Defense Education Activity in 2017, where he quickly advanced to the role of K-5 Math Instructional Systems Specialist for the Fort Stewart/South Carolina Community Superintendent’s Office, where he provided support in mathematics and professional development for seven schools. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
Romero is also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving five years as an Aviation Hydraulic Mechanic on F/A-18 Hornets.
Romero says, “I am honored to continue serving the DoDEA community at Fort Campbell. I remain committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to advance DoDEA’s mission and to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.”
