CCHS’s Adcock, Day sign letters of intent

Two Christian County High School athletes signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and scholastic careers at the next level during a ceremony at the high school Monday afternoon.

Lady Colonels’ softball player Avery Adcock inked a letter to play college softball at the University of Missouri. Adcock becomes the fourth Lady Colonel softball player to play with a SEC school, joining Meghan Brooks, Griffin Joiner and Emmy Blane.

Christian County coach Sheri Hancock described Adcock as “very competitive.”

Adcock moved into the Lady Colonels’ starting lineup as an eighth grader at second base. Midway through the year she moved to shortstop and that’s where she has been ever since.

In the last four years, Adcock has hit .457 with 26 home runs and 129 RBI. She said she is looking forward to her chance to play for the Tigers, who made her feel at home from the beginning.

Adcock said she chose Missouri over Kentucky, Louisville, Western Kentucky, College of Charleston, and several Ivy League schools. The Lady Tigers were a top 20 program and barely missed the College World Series a year ago.

Meanwhile, senior basketball player N’Vaeh Day made it official and signed with Rend Lake Junior College.

Day’s coach, Kiki Radford, said she always knew that the star forward could play at the next level.

Day was recently voted among the state’s top 30 players this season and is coming off a junior season when she averaged 11.2 points per game.

The 5-foot-9 forward said she is looking forward to the opportunity to play at the next level.

Day had committed to Rend Lake several months ago.
