The Louisville Courier Journal released its preseason girls basketball Top 25 poll and the Christian County Lady Colonels are ranked No. 20.
The Lady Colonels, who are coached by Kiki Radford, are led by Anaysia Bagwell and NaVaeh Day. They are coming off an 18-10 record in 2023-24.
The poll, which is voted on by the state’s coaches, has Louisville Sacred Heart as No. 1 with 91 first-place votes. George Rogers Clark is ranked second and earned five first-place votes. Bethlehem, Franklin County and Assumption round out the top five.
Henderson County is the only other Region 2 team in the poll and is ranked No. 7.
Franklin-Simpson is ranked No. 10, McCracken County is No. 11, Owensboro Catholic is No. 16, Owensboro is No. 22, Daviess County is No. 23 and Bowling Green, which is coached by former Todd County Central athletic Director Calvin Head, is No. 24.
Christian County plays Henderson County on Dec. 12. Also on the Lady Colonels’ schedule are McCracken County (Dec. 14), Bowling Green (Dec. 17) and Owensboro (Jan. 4).
Bullitt East is ranked No. 17 and will play Christian County on Dec. 20 at the Robert Alexander Queen of the Commonwealth Tournament.
Christian County opens the season Dec. 6 at Clarksville Kenwood.
