The United Way of the Pennyrile is on a mission to raise $700,000 to support 18 nonprofits across Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties. As the year winds down, members working on this year’s campaign appeared on WHOP News to provide a mission update.
United Way Campaign Chair Marth Steil shared that they are close to reaching 40% of their goal, around $263,000. Steil says they have multiple fundraising campaigns underway, so it’s a busy time.
Steil was joined by Melanie Noffsinger, who is set to be the next Executive Director of the United Way. Betsy Bond, the current executive director, announced that she plans to retire after this year’s campaign.
Before she takes over in 2025, Noffsinger says she has hit the ground running to support this year’s campaign and learn the ropes. Although she has been involved in past campaigns, she looks forward to playing a bigger role.
December 2 marks Giving Tuesday and Noffsinger says the United Way will be hosting something to spotlight their campaign. Those interested in donating or learning more about the United Way’s campaign can visit pennyrileunitedway.org.
