CCPS Superintendent talks failure of Amendment Two, school attendance

Amendment Two was handily defeated at the ballot box, as voters across all 120 counties said no to the measure that would have allowed the state legislature to allocate funds to schools outside of the public school system.

Christian County Public School Superintendent Chris Bentzel appeared on the WHOP Early Bird Show Tuesday and thanked the voters for casting their votes against Amendment Two, saying it’s a measure that’s not good for public schools.

He thanked the local groups that devoted their time and efforts to spreading awareness and education about Amendment Two, saying it clearly paid off.

Students are in the midst of the holidays and Superintendent Bentzel says it can be a tricky time of the year—as many students and staff are battling colds—but the main thing they’re working on is keeping attendance up.

Students will be off of school on November 27, 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving, and then they’ll settle into learning as much as possible before winter break begins on December 23 through January 6.
