TVA hears comments, input from public on Integrated Resource Plan in Hopkinsville

The Tennessee Valley Authority was in Hopkinsville Thursday evening to hear from the public on their thoughts about the draft Integrated Resource Plan to prepare for the future.

Energy demand in the region and the TVA service area as a whole is only increasing, and the TVA is hoping to prepare as much as possible for the what the future may contain and how they can continue providing affordable, reliable energy to the people.  Clifton Lowry is the vice president of enterprise planning and says the plan is a long-term study on how they can best serve their region, and the public is who they want to hear from the most.

Right now, they’re in the draft stage, and Thursday at the James E. Bruce Convention Center the TVA heard from community members about their thoughts on the draft and their comments, questions and concerns.

Lowry says if you weren’t able to make it out to the hearing, you can still have your voice heard by going online at tva.com/IRP and read the plan and give input on it.

In development since early 2023, the IRP examines economic, regulatory and market driven scenarios which are outside TVA’s control, as well as strategies that TVA could utilize to respond to these scenarios while continuing to provide reliable power at the lowest possible cost.

There will be a virtual webinar about the plan on November 22, and you can register to participate on the TVA website.
