CCHS football preparing for Mayfield tonight

It’s been an up-and-down season for the Christian County Colonels’ football team and that trend continues this week as they conclude their regular season tonight at Mayfield.

After last weekend’s 49-18 loss to Henderson County, the Colonels’ believed their starting quarterback, Jaiden Williams, had left the team.

Freshman Ty Grace replaced Williams in the fourth quarter last week and drove the team to two scores. Williams was back with the team Wednesday at practice. But with uncertainty at quarterback, Christian County Coach Ethan Atchley said he decided he would be starting Grace tonight against the Cardinals.

The Colonels enter the game at 1-8 while Mayfield is 6-2 and ranked No. 4 the Class 2-A Bluegrasspreps.com Poll.

Mayfield hammered the Colonels 72-8 last season at the Stadium of Champions.

Tonight’s game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. with airtime at 6:30 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
