Before kiddos take to the streets on Halloween in the search for candy, they put on their costumes and crowded the Stadium of Champions for the Power of One Trunk-or-Treat Event hosted by the Christian County Public School System on Tuesday.
Christian County High School Special Education Teacher and Black Student Union Adviser, Jakala Radford came up with the idea for the trunk-or-treat.
Radford says the idea came to her as she was thinking of community events the union could host. After the union was on board with the trunk-or-treat idea, they invited other school and community organizations to join.
Around 40 organizations filled the parking lot to give out candy. Radford says her expectations for the trunk-or-treat weren’t too high because it was a first-time event, but she was happy to see such a large crowd.
Looking toward the future, Radford says she hopes the trunk-or-treat event becomes a staple community event.
