The Clayton Building in downtown Hopkinsville is set to transform into the weekly Merry Little Market starting in November and will feature local vendors and small businesses.
Patty Cooper, the owner of Starbird Gourmet Popcorn and So Much More, and Jeanell Fowler, the owner of Jeanell’s Creations, are organizing the market. Cooper says her friend owns the Clayton Building and since it is currently sitting empty, they suggested that it could be a spot for vendor events.
Cooper says other holiday markets can be competitive or costly to grab a spot. The market will be open each Sunday from November 3 to December 22, and Cooper says it will bring shoppers downtown where new businesses are opening up such as the Book and Bottle Shop, the Crusty Pig and Ro’Mae’s Soulfood and Catering which reopened in September.
Cooper says the market also emphasizes shopping local, she says the money spent at the market will go toward community members supporting their families and will be spent at other local businesses
Cooper says it’s a privilege to host the market and shares that she got her business started by attending vendor markets and looks forward to spotlighting local talent.
On Sundays the Merry Little Market will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 119 East 9th Street. It costs $25 to set up at the market and those interested in being a vendor can contact Cooper at 270-305-3008.
Some vendors set to be at the market include Starbird Gourmet Popcorn and So Much More, Jeanell’s Creations, B. Yvette Creations, The CBD Grotto, M&S Produce Stand, Our Blessed Homestead and Irene’s Originals.
