The Hopkinsville Tigers face a tough challenge tonight when they travel to take on Class 4-A, District 1 football rival Allen County-Scottsville.
Hopkinsville is currently the No. 4 seed in the district and the Patriots are the No. 2 seed.
Allen County-Scottsville enters the game ranked No. 8 in the Kentucky High School Football Media Poll with a 7-1 record and are 3-1 in district play. Its only loss came to Paducah Tilghman.
Hopkinsville is 3-5 overall and 2-2 in district play.
Hoptown coach Dustin Lopez said the Patriots will present a challenge for his offense:
Lopez said the Tigers also will have their hands full with the Patriots’ offense, led by senior quarterback Braylon Adams. Adams has run for nearly 500 yards and seven touchdowns and thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and 13 scores this season.
Hopkinsville is hoping to continue its hot play from senior quarterback Aiden King, who has thrown for nearly 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Offensively, James Bradley Jr., Treston Kay, Deavery Ramey all have helped the Tigers score 93 points in their last three games.
Hopkinsville enters Friday night’s battle on a two-game winning streak. The Patriots also have won their last two games.
The last two meetings between the schools have gone to overtime with the Patriots eliminating Hoptown from playoff contention last year 20-19.
The Patriots lead the all-time series 2-1.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with airtime at 6:30 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
