Indiana woman charged with trying to get drugs into the Todd Co. Jail

An Indiana woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly tried to get drugs into the Todd County Jail. 

According to the Elkton Police Department, on Sunday, Captain Jakop Smith observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of the Todd County Detention Center, and then pull up to a garage used for inmate work details.

The female driver, identified as 39-year-old Amber Smith of Greenville, Indiana, was seen getting out the vehicle and placing something behind a trash can in front of the garage. 

Contact was made with Smith, and it was quickly discovered that she had allegedly placed a large amount of suboxone pills behind the trash can. She had reportedly placed them there with the intent from them to be introduce into the jail population as contraband. 

Smith was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and promoting contraband.
