Hopkinsville Police arrested 41-year-old Troy Scott for drug trafficking on Tuesday after he was reportedly caught removing the license plate on one car and attempting to place it on another.
According to a report, a patrolling officer caught Scott removing the license plate from one car and placing it on another in a parking lot near South Virginia and East 18th Streets. When asked about what he was doing, Scott reportedly told officers that he owned both cars.
ECC reportedly confirmed to responding officers that Scott was switching license plates between cars. At the scene, a police K-9 conducted a free air sniff and alerted to both vehicles.
One of the cars reportedly contained a bag of cocaine and the other car contained a large amount of cash and another bag of cocaine.
Scott was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, having no registration plates and failure to maintain insurance.
