After launching their campaign in September, Amy Rogers from the United Way of the Pennyrile appeared on WHOP on Monday to spotlight their progress and to encourage the community to donate.
The United Way hosts annual donation campaigns to benefit regional nonprofits. This year they are seeking $700,000 for 18 partner agencies which include Aaron McNeil House, Inc., the Boys and Girls Club and the Salvation Army.
At the United Way campaign kick-off breakfast in September, it was announced that they were already 30% of the way to their goal having already raised around $205,000. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Shine like the Stars” which spotlights the United Way’s goal of shining a light and lifting up the nonprofits that help those in need.
Rogers, who serves the United Way’s Board, calls $700,000 a lofty goal but says they are in an amazing community full of givers, so she sees no problem in them meeting their goal.
To donate, folks can go to pennyrileunitedway.org or they can deliver a check to a board member. Rogers says they are not going to turn away any donations and encourages the community to donate in any way they are able to.
The full list of partner agencies is also available on the United Way’s website, and Rogers says donors can specify what agencies they want their donations to go toward.
