While some areas do remain somewhat dry, Kentucky is officially out of drought status.
That’s according to the Office of the State Climatologist and the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, who have removed the Level 1 Drought Declarations for all 120 counties in the Commonwealth. Recent rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Helene have eliminated rain deficits and improved stream flows and soil moisture levels.
While portions of the state still have the ‘dry’ designation on the drought indicator map, the moderate to severe drought conditions have officially been busted by Helene.
