The Hopkinsville Tigers honored its three seniors and then those three seniors each scored as Hoptown routed visiting Heritage Christian Academy 9-1 Tuesday night in a boys’ District 8 soccer match.
Seniors Alexander Marcano, Marvin Morales, and David Lopez all scored for Hopkinsville. But freshman Erick Hernandez stole the show with four goals on the night.
Lester Macario and Gavin Harton also found the back of the net for Hopkinsville (6-12, 3-1).
Alex Ramirez, Hernandez, Marcano, and Macario all had an assist for the Tigers, who wrapped up the No. 2 seed in next week’s District 8 Tournament. Hopkinsville will play Christian County in the second semifinal game Tuesday night at University Heights Academy. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Heritage Christian got its only goal from Kallan Davis on an assist from Lucas Weiss. Cayden Nowak had 17 saves in goal for the Warriors (1-11-1, 0-6), who will play Fort Campbell in the district tournament play-in game at 4 p.m. Saturday at UHA. The winner will advance to play top seed UHA at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Givens Field.
